Freediving is one of the most ancient practices in the world, the art of breath retention and diving has been used for centuries by our ancestors. Come learn how you are physiologically connected to the ocean and feel the freedom of exploring the depths on a single breath!
Join Instructor Laura and Tom and enjoy a deep dive in and around the West Coast of Scotland this September aboard the Lady. Whether you're a total newbie and want to level up your snorkelling or are an experienced freediver seeking depth, we can cater to you as we explore this beautiful area by boat. Combining freediving, wild swimming, snorkelling and daily yoga and breath practises, this trip is unlike anything else in the UK!
No prior experience needed, just swimming ability and a sense of adventure! Come explore with us.

For the 2023 season, Mara Adventures is running two adventures aboard the tall ship the Lady of Avenel and our sister ship Volharding, a dutch sailing barge.
These trips will integrate Free-diving, Yoga, Breathwork, and other activities such as meditation & swimming alongside sailing whilst exploring the beautiful West Coast of Scotland.
Rewild & Free
A Freediving/Snorkelling/ Wild Swimming Adventure Expedition
Trip 1 - Sunday 15th - Saturday 21st September 2024
Sailing from Pontoon Marina, Oban
Here is a rough overview of what to expect during this trip. Of course, the trip is very dependent on the tides, wildlife and weather, so our daily schedule will be flexible, but this is all part of your experience. We will all be involved in sailing the ship, under the supervision of skipper Stefan.
Everything else is optional, it is your trip.
Yoga/stretch session/ Breathwork
A typical day:
Breakfast
1st in water session of the day- snorkel or freedive
Lunch
Sailing
Potential 2nd in water session- SUP, hike, swim or snorkel.
Chill
Evening family dinner (delicious, nutritious and prepared by an onboard chef).
Beach bonfires, games, chats and sea shanties!

Sailing from Pontoon Marina, Oban
The Expedition
This is a call to all those with an adventurous spirit who want to explore the stunning West Coast of Scotland from the spectacular The Lady Of Avenel This beautiful and hardy sailing vessel sleeps 12 guests comfortably (based on two sharing).
The expedition will be facilitated by Laura and Tom both of whom are freediving instructors with a passion for adventure! Whether you are a seriously experienced Freediver or a total newbie wanting to level up your snorkelling, we can cater to your needs as we enjoy the biodiverse and cold clear waters of the Scottish West Coast.
Expect breathwork sessions, yoga, SUP time, hikes, wild swimming, cold water immersion and snorkeling/freediving.
